Afternoon Slump? 2 Tips to Beat the 2PM Crash

Most of us have been there. When the clock strikes 2:00 PM, your eyes get heavy, you begin to lose focus, and all you can think about is taking a nap. Watch this video to find out my 2-pronged approach to avoiding the 2PM crash.

We often fight the urge to crash by getting our quick fix – a cup of coffee, a sweet treat, or a soda and a bag of chips. However, many of these immediate “solutions” may not be aligned with your health and dream body goals.
So instead of grabbing that bag of chips and a soda, or a coffee that keeps you wired for the rest of the night and makes it tough for you to fall asleep, let’s look at some real, SOUL-utions.

1. What to do in the heat of the moment?

When you’re crashing, you just have to face it – you’re crashing! Here are some healthier options that will be supportive of your goals and overall, how you feel:

  • Go outside, get fresh air and breathe deeply
  • Do some stretching and jumping jacks (at your desk or in the bathroom), let your body move and have a little dance party!

  • Stock up on healthy snack options in your desk (shelf stable fruits, single servings of nut butter or nuts)

  • Get yourself an ice-cold water and hydrate!

2. Plan for success

In order for you to succeed in avoiding the 2PM energy crash, you must take care of yourself. It’s not selfish to prioritize YOU!

  • Get more rest and take the pressure off of yourself – You do NOT need to be superwoman

  • Make sure you’re fueling your body well throughout the day and drinking enough water

  • Plan regular breaks for self-care into your schedule (manage your time effectively)

In the long run, these tips will set you up for the sustainable energy you need to not only feel your best, but also to show up as the BEST version of yourself in all areas of life that matter to you.
