How To Ask For Help | Tapping Into Your Inner Badass Series (Part 4)

In this video I show you how to ask for help so that you can get the support you need and show up as the best version of yourself in life.

It’s challenging to ask for help sometimes.

We think that we should be able to take care of everything all by ourselves and that asking for help would be kind of like we’re failing.

Here’s the thing. I actually believe it’s the opposite. We’re supposed to ask for help! We’re not meant to live on an island, managing all by ourselves. Our culture truly is set up for community.

Most of the time our need to “do it all by ourselves” is driven by fear though. We’re trying to impress, people please, and not seem weak.

Here’s a shift in perspective. It’s a failure NOT to ask for help because what typically happens when we try to do everything all by ourselves?

We end up as an empty depleted shell of a human being. We end up sick, exhausted, with adrenal fatigue (so common these days!), digestive issues, or worse.

Who cares if you get the results you were chasing if, when you get there, you have nothing left to give?

We chase things outside of ourselves like weight loss and a number on the scale, or money and a certain dollar amount on our pay stub, or a reaching a certain level in our career, because we think that accomplishing that thing will make us happy.

Or we take care of our family and put everyone else’s needs in front of our own because we think that we’ll be acknowledged and feel good knowing they are well taken care of.

But the honest truth is that none of these things actually ends up making us feel the way we want to feel.

It’s not about reaching some arbitrary point in the future where:

  • Then you will be ready
  • Then you will feel happy
  • Then you will have enough money
  • Then you can ask for support

You have to do it now. Today.

In this video I share my best tips on how to ask for help when you need it and not expect yourself to be able to do everything all on your own.
